The NFL’s junior representative sides are back in action this weekend, following a successful start to the 2014 National Sports Museum Metropolitan Junior Championships.
The Northern Football League made a superb start to the Championships last Wednesday, winning four of its five games.
The league’s four boys teams all defeated the Riddell District Football League (RDFL), while our girls team was gallant in defeat against a strong Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) outfit.
The teams all return to the field this weekend, with matches scheduled on both Saturday and Monday.
The NFL’s under-15 and under-14 Division 1 boys teams will play the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) at Bulleen Park, Bullen on Saturday, June 7, before meeting the Eastern Football League (EFL) at Eltham Central Park on Monday, June 9.
The under-15 and under-14 Division 2 boys teams are drawn against the South East Juniors (SEJ) at Yarrambat Football Ground on Saturday, June 7, before playing the EFL at Walker Park, Nunawading on Monday, June 9.
Meanwhile, the under-16 girls team will play a combined Western Region and Essendon District Football League team at Goonawarra Reserve, Gooonawarra on Saturday, June 7, before meeting the YJFL at Bulleen Park, Bullen on Monday, June 9.
As per years gone by, each boys team is drawn into a four-team pool where they will play three round-robin matches. The two highest ranked teams from the round robin matches will then compete in the Grand Final on Saturday, July 21 at Shepley Oval, Dandenong.
The under-16 girls team is drawn into a six-team pool, where once again the two top ranked teams from the round robin matches will compete in the Grand Final on July 21.
