A look back over last weekend’s action in the Under-16 to Under-18 junior competitions.

Kicking off round seven in the Under 18 Girls were Mernda and Eltham who faced off at Waterview Reserve. The Panthers came in hard with multiple goal kickers for the side as they took away a 24-point win. Eloise Sanders and Joss Hanrahan were named in the sides best, with Sanders kicking a goal. From the Demons Charli King and Haylie Brooks fought hard while Kiara Lazzara and Alex Nuttman-brown were the Demons goalkickers.

Diamond Creek forfeited to Yarrambat, while Research had a bye this round.

Coming into the Under 17.5 Boys, Laurimar and Montmorency met at Laurimar Reserve. In an extremely close game the Magpies stayed in front by a small margin until the last quarter where they kicked four out of their ten goals. Bailey Smith and Dylan Keating led the Magpies with Keating kicking two goals while Lucas McDonald and James Gomez put in their best efforts for the Power.

Top of the ladder Yarrambat took on Whittlesea at the Whittlesea Showgrounds. The Eagles managed to hit the forefront in the first term but from there the Bats took over kicking eight goals for the game. Jack Wunderlich and Brodie Brander were standouts from the Eagles while Archer Harvey kicked three goals for the Bats. The Bats came away with a 42-point win to continue their unbroken winning streak for the season.

Wallan faced Mernda at Waterview Reserve as the home team looked for their first win of the season. Both sides put in their best efforts but it was the Magpies who came out on top as they sustained their lead throughout the match to take home a 51-point win. Beau McAuliffe and Hayden Walker led the Magpies with Campbell Harrison kicking six goals. Edmond Saikaly and Justin Spadorcia fought hard for the Demons as Saikaly kicked three goals for the game.

Second and third faced off as Diamond Creek went to Mill Park Lakes Reserve to face South Morang. The Creekers opened the game with four goals in the first term while keeping the Lions to none, but the Lions came in hard in the second term, bouncing back with five goals but still remained just behind the Creekers. A competitive match from both sides but in the end it was the Creekers who took away a 20-point win, while being led by Benjamin Munding and Matteo Demarte with Ashton Flottl kicking three goals. Marcus Cutajar and Adam Huybers gave their best efforts for the Lions.

Eltham Black had a rest week with a bye.

For the Under 16 Girls (1) Mernda and Eltham met at Waterview Reserve. The Panthers were unstoppable, kicking 11 goals while keeping the Demons to one goal for the game. Karah Hosking and Ruby Hartney were standouts from the Panthers, Hartney kicked three goals. A fantastic performance from the Panthers led to their 65-point victory.

Yarrambat continued their undefeated season against Diamond Creek. The Bats kept the Creekers scoreless up until the last quarter while they kicked 16 goals to secure their 101-point victory. Deena Gerges and Addison Fitzpatrick led the Bats to victory, Gerges alongside Lucy Wilson kicked four goals each for the Bats.

Kilmore went up against Research at Research Park. The Blues took away a 57-point win after being ahead the entire match with a considerable margin. Matilda Skora and Chiara Amoroso led the Blues, with Violet Jacobs and Hannah Gibson kicking three goals each. Ayva Humphreys and Grace Hegarty put in their best efforts for the Searches with Humphreys kicking their only goal.

Laurimar and Darebin Women started off the Under 16 Girls (2) at Laurimar Reserve. In a close game the Falcons just came out on top for a seven-point victory. Grace Barker and Millie Maher led the Falcons while Georgi White and Caitlin Poulton were named in the Powers best.

Wallan faced Whittlesea at Greenhill Reserve. The Eagles didn’t hold back keeping the Magpies scoreless the entire match while kicking 17 goals. Jamie Robinson and Alannah Purcell led the Eagles to their 114-point victory, Robinson kicked five goals for the game. Despite the loss, Sienna Kapetanakos and Ruby-rose Jones showed up for the Magpies.

In a close affair South Morang took on Montmorency at Montmorency Park South Oval. The game score continued to fluctuate as both sides continued to put points on the board each term. Zoey Cummings and Madison Morgan were standouts from the Magpies while Brooke Suckling kicked two goals. Cammryn Warke and Cleopatra Kliakos were named in the Lions best.

Laurimar Black clashed with Kilmore starting off the Under 16 Boys (1) at Laurimar Reserve. The Power gave it their all making a hard game for the Blues. Jack Tonkin and Cruz Carmichael were standouts from the Power with Will Broadbent kicking four goals for the side. Lewis King and Harrison O’Dwyer-Richards put in their best from the Blues end. With a staggering 17 goals the Power locked in their 68-point win.

There was an incredibly competitive game between South Morang and Diamond Creek, with a draw. The Creekers were able to stay in front up until the last term with the Lions kicking another two goals to make it a draw. Michael Ali and Tristin-Lee Turner led the Lions as well as having multiple goalkickers. Jordan Giamarelos and Max Tabain were named in the Creekers best with Oliver Panek kicking four goals.

Eltham took on Whittlesea at Eltham Central Park. The Panthers stayed in front the whole game, kicking 16 goals to secure a 72-point win. Nicholas Spooner and Andrew Minutolo led the Eagles, Spooner kicked five goals. Joshua Mullavey-Clark and Owen Burchfield put in their best efforts for the Eagles while having multiple goalkickers.

Greensborough and Yarrambat faced off at Yarrambat War Memorial Park. The Bats didn’t hold back, kicking 24 goals to secure a 155-point victory. Benjamin Hodgson and Toby Jeffs led the Bats alongside multiple goalkickers, Jeffs kicked three goals while Ethan Thornton Williams kicked four goals. Despite the loss Jack Edwards and Mitchell Douglas showed up for the Borough.

Mernda and West Preston-Lakeside kickstarted the Under 16 Boys (2) at Waterview Reserve. The Demons had an impressive game kicking 21 goals to secure a 121-point victory. Lachlan Barker and Michael Warwick stood out from the Demons, Barker kicked four goals. Despite the difficult game, Dean DeMaria and Lachlan Hirt were named in the Roosters best.

Hurstbridge made their way up to Kinglake Memorial Oval to face off the Lakers. Another excellent performance as the Bridges kicked 21 goals for a 126-point win. Jack Edis and Conner Wilson were named in the Bridges best with multiple goalkickers from the side. Lochaden Graham, Jack Mullis and Vasco Strong were the Lakers goalkickers.

A competitive match between Montmorency and Wallan at Montmorency Park. Wallan managed to stay on top the entire match but with only a small margin at Montmorency trailing behind. Spencer Parsons and Zac Webster were named in Montmorency’s best, with Webster kicking four goals. From Wallan Chase Fowler and Oliver Norman were standouts with Fowler kicking five goals.

Sixth and seventh faced off at JJ Clancy Reserve. Laurimar hit the forefront making it a difficult game for Kilmore, with the Power taking away a 52-point win. Dominic Werner and Lachlan Hendrie led the Power with Lucas Coetzee and Dean Siderakis kicking three goals each. Despite the loss Beau Kemp and Zachary Gaylard were named in the Blues best.

Research had a rest this week with a bye.
