Lower Plenty honours the past

LOWER Plenty will honour its past when it takes to the field against West Preston-Lakeside in Round 9.

The Bears will revert to the former Lower Plenty jumper – a yellow and brown stripe design – to recognise the AFL’S Heritage Round and to honour all the players that have represented the club in the past.

The jumper is seen in the photo to the right. In the image are the late Terry Patterson, Kel Donaldson, Andrew Cuff and Rod Ward.  All four were significant contributors to the history of Lower Plenty.

Paterson, father of Ben and Sam who are both starring for the Northern Knights this year, was coach of the 1986 premiership and is a life member of the club.

Donaldson is a past president, captain and life member; Cuff a past office bearer and life member and Ward a life member.

The day will also feature a Past Players Lunch, with the club hopeful many supporters and past sponsors return on Saturday to relive old stories and watch the current Bears take the field in an important match.

Lower Plenty will also celebrate 20 years of its wonderful association with the Research Juniors Football Club by celebrating the 1996 under-19 DVFL premiership.

The club thanks Saul Caddy and his company Plumbcad for sponsoring the day. Without their support, the event would not be able to take place.
