Mustangs announce George departure

Published on Wednesday, November 29, 2023

Reservoir Sporting Club has announced that senior men’s coach Justin George will not remain with the club in 2024.

The announcement comes after the club had originally re-signed George in August this year.

Following his appointment in 2022, he helped the club break an almost five-year winning drought early in his first year at the club and has since registered four more wins during his tenure with Reservoir so far.

The Mustangs finished eighth on the 2023 Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3 ladder with a 2-14 record, however they boasted their best percentage since 2019.

A club statement said:

The Reservoir Sporting Club would like to advise that Justin George, in consultation with the club’s executive committee has decided to resign from his post as senior coach, effective immediately.

The club acknowledges the hard work & dedication Justin has brought to the role of senior coach since being appointed in 2022. We thank Justin for all his efforts & wish him all the best for the future.

The club will now conduct a process to identify our next coach & confirm our coaching structure for 2024.

Senior Assistant Coach & Reserves Assistant Coach – Tom Service & Brett Walker, will be co-coaches for the interim until a decision is made for the 2024 season.
