Netballers to compete at Association Championships

The Northern Football League’s open representative team will compete at the Netball Victoria Association Championships this Sunday.

The Championships pit the best leagues and associations from around Victoria against each other at the State Netball and Hockey Centre.

The NFL has named a 12-woman squad for the Championships, comprised of: Stacey Gannon (Diamond Creek), Casey Barnes (North Heidelberg), Georgia Bowkett (Diamond Creek), Lauren Burns (North Heidelberg), Isabelle Conroy (Greensborough), Jessica Dao (North Heidelberg), Tayla Hardiman (South Morang), Jacqui Harrington (Diamond Creek), Lauren Jones (Heidelberg), Chelsea Kemp (Mernda), Chloe Mulenmeesters (North Heidelberg), Verhonda Smith (Diamond Creek) and Chylah Rogers (Diamond Creek).

Seventeen teams have been accepted for the Championships, with the sides split into two pools.

The NFL has been placed in the eight-team Pool B, where it will play against Albury Netball Association, Ballarat Football Netball League, Geelong Football Netball League, MCDFNL, North Gippland FNL, Waverley City Netball Association and Wendouree Netball Assoctiation.

The top-two teams from each pool will progress to the semi finals, with the two winners of the semi finals to compete in the grand final.

The NFL wishes the girls the best of luck at the Championships and also congratulates umpire Jane Barring who has been selected to officiate.
