Nine Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 clubs are represented, along with A Plus Labour Solutions Division 2 teams Eltham and Banyule.

The squad contains 21 players who represented the NFNL in its 125-point drubbing of the Western Region Football League last year.

Macleod coach Garry Ramsay will again be at the helm of the NFNL senior men’s representative side this year.

Jono Manzoney, Brett Jeffery and Trevor Robinson will remain assistants. They will be joined by Whittlesea coach Jim Atkins and Montmorency’s Grant Woodward, making for a larger coaching panel in 2018.

Ramsay said he was confident in the playing squad that had been assembled and hoped to retain momentum following last year’s comprehensive representative triumph.

“I’m really confident with that group going forward,” Ramsay said.

“We were really pleased the way last year’s group went. We had a 125-point win and the group we had together, they didn’t do much wrong.

“There will be some additions to cover the ones we have lost and fill a couple of spots but we’re really confident in our own local talent.

“I found that from our own homegrown players, we got a really good output from them and they are really keen to play. I enjoy coaching players who are keen to play and learn as well.”

A representative under-19 match and our first senior women’s interleague match will be played prior to the senior men’s match on May 19.

Greensborough’s Rod Cann will coach the under-19 side for a third-consecutive season, while Chyloe Kurdas has been appointed coach of the inaugural senior women’s team.

The under-19 and women’s football squads, and the two netball squads to take on the Eastern Football League on May 18, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Training details will also be provided shortly.
