The Northern Football Netball League can confirm that the Ivanhoe Football Club and the Old Paradians Football Club have been accepted to join the competition ahead of the 2024 season.

The two clubs were voted into the NFNL by affiliate members at a Special General Meeting last week before their transfer from the Victorian Amateur Football Association was ratified by AFL Victoria.

Ivanhoe were formed in 1910 and originally competed in the Heidelberg District Football Association before joining the VAFA in 1934 where they went on to win 15 senior premierships.

Meanwhile Old Paradians had played in the VAFA since their inception in 1929, where they won 11 flags.

Both senior men’s football sides are set to join Heidelberg Golf Club Division 3 next year, making it an 11-team competition, while Ivanhoe will also intend to field at least one senior women’s football team in 2024.

NFNL chief executive officer Martin Stillman is looking forward to the two clubs having an immediate impact on the league.

“The Northern Football Netball League welcome the Ivanhoe and Old Paradians Football Clubs into the NFNL,” he said,

“We look forward to their contribution to the league in season 2024 and beyond”.
