The Northern Football League wishes to advise that allegations of racial vilification against a Reservoir Under-15s player, as covered by media today, are currently under investigation.
The allegations have been strongly denied by those accused and a comprehensive investigation and mediation process is now underway.
The NFL takes very seriously any allegation of racial vilification and has an established process for addressing claims. Given the investigation is ongoing it is not appropriate to provide further comment at this time.
In relation to the suspension handed down to the Reservoir Under-15s player, this sanction was the result of a charge of unruly and unacceptable behaviour to which the player pleaded guilty. No appeal to the conviction has been lodged with the NFL.
The NFL does not tolerate any form of abuse or violence from players, officials or spectators, and has stringent guidelines in place to ensure NFL matches are played in a safe and inclusive environment. Any player, official or spectator found to have breached these guidelines will be sanctioned accordingly.
