Senior Teams | June 16-18 | Northern Football Netball League

The selected teams are in for this week’s NFNL senior football matches.

There are some massive inclusions from teams in the top flight this week, as VFL byes and players returning from injury headline a stack of changes following the King’s Birthday break.

Heidelberg premiership captain Sam Gilmore is in for the Tigers’ trip to Banyule. The reigning premiers also bring back Benjamin Nikolovski while for Banyule, Thomas Hallebone and Riley Loton headline the inclusions but they will miss Adam Carafa and Jack Sammartino.

Mark Kovacevic is back for West Preston-Lakeside but the Roosters will be without the inform Max Dreher as they prepare to host Bundoora. The Bulls meanwhile bring in a host of VFL talent which includes Neville Jetta, John Jorgensen and Ryan Sturgess who will all play their first games of the season at the club.

Liam Hunt and Jesse Tardio will be crucial additions for North Heidelberg in their battle with Montmorency. Marcus Lentini returns for the Magpies but they will be without Patrick Dozzi.

Lucas Hobbs and Mitchell Moschetti are some of the names returning for Macleod and Hurstbridge respectively when they clash tomorrow afternoon, while the likes of Charlie Bowes, Jamie Smith and Joel Trudgeon will miss Greensborough’s trip to Whittlesea.

In Division 2, South Morang make four changes for their first trip to Panton Hill since 2019, with Jake Potter headlining the inclusions for the Lions, while Jesse Owens-Draper is back for the Redbacks.

Former Thomastown captain Josh Beare returns to the senior side in the Bears’ clash with Diamond Creek. The Creekers bring in Chris Moloney.

Vincent Loccisano is back for St Mary’s as they face Epping while Eltham make seven changes for their match with Lower Plenty.

Both Mernda and the Fitzroy Stars have added handy names to their sides in the lead up to their Division 3 clash tomorrow afternoon. The Demons bring in Ryan Bongetti while the Stars welcome back Hedley Smith.

Kaiden Arthur and Ethan Bateman are back in Laurimar’s starting line-up ahead of their match with Reservoir.

Selected teams for the NFNL Women’s competition will be named in the lead-up to Sunday’s matches.
