Mrs Pruscino becomes the second female to serve on the league’s board since the inception of the NFL/Diamond Valley Football League in 1922, following Nicolina Lademann’s appointment last year.
A placement services manager with Willis Group, Mrs Pruscino previously sat on the league’s junior committee.
She said one of her main aims as an NFL board member was to help create a better pathway between junior and senior clubs.
“The main drive is retention and growth of our league, commencing at the grass-roots levels and being able to create a pathway for juniors into senior clubs for those clubs that don’t have senior opportunities at the moment,” she said.
“We’re also looking to have clubs within our league promoted as community clubs, so not only just a sporting venue where parents drop their kids off but it’s really having a club provide a holistic approach to their members coming in.”
Continuing to assist with the growth of the NFL junior competition was another of Mrs Prusciano’s ambitions as a board member.
“There’s been great growth in the junior competition, particularly over the last few years with the inclusion of additional clubs,” she said.
“I see that there is even more opportunity for us with the northern corridor continually expanding. I’d very much like to think that we could attract more children from that growth area into our sport.”
As well as developing the junior competition, Mrs Pruscino said promoting the league’s inclusiveness would be high on her agenda.
“The league had eight or nine female presidents last year so it is a league that does promote diversity and a league that promotes respect for any background, from youth girls through to those with disabilities also.
“It’s a very exciting league to be a part of moving forward and continuing to push for change.”
Mrs Pruscino’s appointment comes in the same week the NFL announced Dean Philpots as its new chairman.
