The NFNL congratulates Tarrah Delgado, Joel Trudgeon and Darcy Wilmot on their selection in this year’s NAB League Teams of the Year.

18-year-old Delgado was selected at full back in the 2021 NAB League Girls Team of the Year following an impressive campaign for the Northern Knights.

She averaged 12 disposals, two marks and two tackles across eight matches for the Knights and went on to represent Vic Metro at the 2021 AFLW Under-19 Championships.

Delgado played junior football with Research, as well as one season at Montmorency, and twice represented the NFNL at the AFL Victoria Metropolitan Junior Championships.

She was part of the historic 2017 Under-15 Girls side, which was the first NFNL team to win a title at the Championships.

Delgado played three VFLW matches for Carlton during the 2021 season and made an appearance for Lower Plenty’s senior team, where she was best afield in the Round 8 loss to Montmorency.

Two players from NFNL clubs were named in the 2021 NAB League Boys Team of the Year, with Darcy Wilmot selected in the back pocket and Joel Trudgeon named on the interchange.

Trudgeon, who was captain of the Northern Knights, was dominant throughout the 2021 NAB League season.

He claimed the Knights best and fairest, the Brent Harvey Medal, following a campaign that saw him average 29 disposals, six marks and 10 tackles.

He ranked fourth in the competition for disposals per game and was No.1 for tackles.

The Research junior was extremely unlucky to miss selection in the Vic Metro squad, but twice represented Carlton at VFL level and impressed in two senior appearances for Macleod.

Wilmot was one of only three 17-year-olds selected in the NAB League Boys Team of the Year.

The Yarrambat junior averaged 15 disposals and three marks in seven appearances for the Knights.

He also featured in four senior games for Montmorency, which included a stunning performance on debut in the Magpies’ three-point win away to Greensborough in Round 3.

The NFNL congratulates Tarrah, Joel and Darcy on their selection in this year’s Team of the Year.
