Zanic makes switch to Saints

Published on Monday, October 21, 2013

Watsonia Sporting Club has announced the appointment of Damien Zanic as senior coach for season 2014.

Zanic joins the Saints after a one-year stint as Lalor coach in 2013.

He has a Level 2 coaching accreditation and an extensive background in football, which includes experience with clubs in the AFL, VFL and TAC Cup.

Zanic worked as an opposition analyst with AFL club Brisbane Lions for four years, and has been senior runner at VFL clubs Coburg, Port Melbourne and Williamstown.

He also spent three years as a line coach with Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup between 2009 and 2011. During that period the Cannons won the 2009 and 2010 premierships and were preliminary finalists in 2011.

Zanic replaces playing-coach Lochie Dornauf at the helm, after Dornauf stood aside following Watsonia’s one-point Grand Final loss to Panton Hill.

A date for all players and members to meet Zanic and hear his plans for Watsonia Sporting Club in 2014 will be advised shortly.
