The 2019 Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 Team of the Year has been announced.

The Northern Football Netball League congratulates all players selected in the team.

The Team of the Year is selected by collating nominations submitted from each of the division’s senior coaches. Coaches MVP votes and umpire votes are also taken into consideration.

A squad of 40 players was announced on Monday, from which the 2019 Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 Team of the Year has been selected.

Nine of the ten top-flight clubs have a representative in the team, headlined by minor premier Greensborough who has six players selected.

Frank Rosbrook Medal winner Tom Bell was named ruck rover, while Coaches MVP winner and best and fairest runner-up Sam Gilmore is in the ruck.

Macleod’s Justin White, who finished second in the Frank Rosbrook Medal voting for the fourth time this year, has been named on the half back flank. It is White’s ninth-consecutive selection in the team, extending back to 2011.

Meanwhile, Greensborough defender Nick Riddle was named at full back for the fifth season in a row.

The full forward line remains the same as 2018, with Montmorency’s Patrick Fitzgerald named at full forward, flanked by Ahmed Saad and Shane Harvey in the forward pockets.

Eight players from the 2018 Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 Team of the Year have been selected again this year. They include Jackson Clarke, Paul Dirago, Patrick Fitzgerald, Shane Harvey, Nick Riddle, Ahmed Saad, Chaz Sargeant, and Justin White.

All players selected in the Team of the Year will receive a framed poster of the squad, which will be presented to their club.
