The 2021 Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 Team of the Year has been selected.

The Team of the Year is selected based on the following criteria:

• Nominations submitted by each senior coach within each division at the conclusion of the home and away season. Coaches must select a player for each position on the field.

• Coaches MVP votes

• Best and Fairest votes

All clubs who competed in Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 this season have a representative in the 2021 Team of the Year.

West Preston-Lakeside has five players selected in the side, as well as coach Rob Maiorana, after finishing three games clear atop the ladder.

It is the third-successive season Maiorana has been named coach of the Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 Team of the Year.

Leading goal kicker Ahmed Saad is named in the forward pocket, while Ethan Penrith is in the back pocket after a fifth-place finish in the best and fairest.

Heidelberg has four representatives in the side, including Frank Rosbrook medallist Lachlan Wilson (rover) and Coaches MVP winner Matthew Smith (wing).

North Heidelberg midfielder Jesse Tardio is named in the centre after finishing among the top three vote winners in both the best and fairest and Coaches MVP awards.

Star Greensborough defender Nick Riddle extended his run as full back of the Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 Team of the Year to a sixth-consecutive season.

Seven players who featured in the 2019 Team of the Year have again been selected this year. They include Riddle, Saad, Wilson, Tom Bell, Jackson Clarke, Jesse Donaldson and Patrick Fitzgerald.

The NFNL congratulates everyone selected in the team.
