Daniel Keenan will write his name into the history books this weekend when he becomes the first player in league history to play 400 senior games.
Keenan reaches the landmark milestone when Hurstbridge travels to J.E. Moore Park to take on Meadows Greyhounds Division 1 reigning premier West Preston-Lakeside.
Keenan made his senior debut for the Bridges as a 16-year-old back in 1998 and has gone on to become one of the league’s most decorated players across a career spanning 22 seasons in the top flight.
He played 56 games for the Bridges between 1998 to 2001, before joining Montmorency in 2002.
Keenan made an immediate impact for the Magpies – winning the club’s best and fairest in his first two seasons with the club, both of which were grand final campaigns.
He went on to play 310 games for Montmorency – captaining the club, playing in four grand finals and twice winning the league’s Division 1 best and fairest award, the Frank Rosbrook Medal.
He shared the award with Shane Harvey and David Mitchell in 2008, before going back-to-back the following season.
In 2017 he passed the league’s games record, which previously stood at 358 by Les Robinson.
After 16 seasons at Montmorency, Keenan returned to Hurstbridge in 2018 and enjoyed an excellent campaign to finish third in the club’s best and fairest voting.
He has played 33 consecutive games since returning to the Bridges, with his durability one of his trademarks throughout his illustrious career.
The NFNL congratulates Daniel on his record-breaking achievement and on his wonderful career to this point.
