Hurstbridge Football Netball Club have confirmed the re-signing of Joel Cordwell, who will remain as senior coach until at least 2024.
Cordwell joined the Bridges in September last year following the departure of co-coaches Brayden Shaw and Jarrod Tilley.
His experience prior to his arrival at Ben Frilay Oval included a senior coach role with Heathmont in the EFNL, as well as assistant coaching roles at the Eastern Ranges and Carlton’s VFL side.
After a five-win campaign in 2022, Cordwell has led Hurstbridge to a current spot in the top five with four games to play, and regardless of whether they play finals, the club will finish with its best win-loss record in the top flight.
A club statement said:
Hurstbridge Football Netball Club are stoked to announce the re-signing of senior head coach Joel Cordwell for 2024.
The influence ‘JC’ has had over this young playing group in less than 12 months has been nothing short of astounding.
After the retirement of Tills & Shawry, we as a club talked about bringing in only top shelf personnel to drive the standard and have been more than satisfied with the results.
His method has proven to stand up in big games, he has raised the expectation of what it means to be an A-grade local footballer and given clear direction to where our football program is going.
In his first season at the helm, we’ve achieved many milestones the club has never reached before and is now leading us to our strongest appearance in Division 1 ever.
