Take a look back on an exciting Round 12 of junior football.

Diamond Creek continued its winning streak in the Under-13 Youth Girls competition, with a 22-point defeat over South Morang.

The eventual winner was held scoreless in the first quarter. However, its strength as a squad was shown from quarter time onward, restricting South Morang to seven points for the remainder of the game.

Diamond Creek’s Gemma Morganti ended with two goals to her name and was named best afield. Jordyn Eichstadt was judged South Morang’s best player.

Montmorency, the third and final team in the competition, had the bye this weekend.

Round 12 of the Under-17 Blue competition had the top two sides, Eltham and Mill Park, both record wins in the race to finals time. The final margins were 13 and 28 points respectively, over Montmorency and Hurstbridge.

Research was also a winner this week, 51 points the difference over Epping. West Preston will be returning from the bye this coming weekend.

South Morang emerged victorious over top of the ladder team Research in the Under-16 Blue competition, by a comfortable 33 points.

Montmorency moved closer to first place with its win, while Diamond Creek was also one of last weekend’s winners.

The Under-15 Green competition saw a spirited performance from the third-placed Thomastown, who fell short to ladder-leader Hurstbridge by a mere 13 points.

Second-placed Mernda also recorded a win, though Hurstbridge are two clear wins ahead on the ladder. The Lalor squad was also among the winners, with a comprehensive defeat of Eltham.

First-placed Epping and third placed Northcote had big wins in the Under-14 Blue competition. However, second-placed Wallan didn’t experience the same fate, falling by a mere 13 points to South Morang Blue.

Eltham experienced better luck in the Under-13 Green competition, running out a 65-point victor over Mernda.

Ladder-leader Diamond Creek was restricted to just 11 points, in a low scoring battle with second-placed Yarrambat. West Lalor and Hurstbridge both also recorded wins.

The third-placed West Preston upset first placed Mernda in the Under-12 Green competition, in another low scoring game – the final margin was just four points.

Montmorency White edged closer to first place with a win, while Wallan emerged victorious in a match where the aggregate score was a low 27 points.

Epping recorded a narrow win in the Under-11 Green competition, with just three behinds separated the Blues from opponent Hurstbridge when the final siren blew.

Mernda established itself as premiership contenders with its tenth win of the season, while second-placed Yarrambat kept Montmorency White to four behinds on its way to a win.

Montmorency White restricted Thomastown to a singular behind in the Under-11 Silver competition, on its way to another victory.

Later in the morning, Laurimar Black recorded another win, keeping opponents Lalor to three behinds. South Morang Gold was also on the winners’ list, keeping Mill Park scoreless for the game.

The Under-10 Green competition commenced with an early game between Mill Park and Research, where the Searchers managed to record their third win of the season.

First-placed Montmorency Magpies and second-placed Mernda were also victors this weekend, over Laurimar Teal and Whittlesea respectively.

The Under-10 Silver competition kicked off on Friday night, where Panton Hill surprisingly defeating the second-placed Kinglake.

Wallan and Hurstbridge recorded narrow wins by three and two points respectively, while Reservoir and West Ivanhoe managed more comfortable wins.
