The Mernda Football and Netball Club is pleased to announce all football coaching and management positions for its three senior football teams have been filled for season 2014.

Brett Wilson will continue as senior coach for the next two years. Wilson has been the senior coach at Mernda since 2012, a year in which he successfully coached the club to the Division 3 premiership in his first season at the helm.

Ron Russell will also continue his role as reserves coach and back up support to the senior coach for a second year.

Anthony Stefanile will be Mernda’s under-19s coach for the 2014 season. Stefanile has been coaching junior football for five years and the club is delighted to have him on board next season as it looks to regain its under-19s team.

Jason Ford has accepted an expanded role in which he will continue as Mernda’s fitness advisor, as well as taking on the additional role as recruiting manager.

The Mernda Football and Netball Club will be focusing on the expansion of the club’s development program, which will involve an extensive marketing campaign that will attract local players of all ages to the club.

All senior coaches and managers will work collectively towards a structured game plan for all three senior teams. Emphasis will be placed on educating and developing all players as the club builds and looks forward to the challenges of moving to a higher level of football.

The Mernda Football and Netball Club is also seeking interested netball coaches and managers for the 2014 season and would encourage interested persons and players to contact the club.

The Mernda and Doreen area will double its population from 20,500 in 2011 to approximately 40,000 in 2016. The club will be looking to take advantage of this growth and develop youth programs that attract young footballers and netballers.

Two new grounds in Woodland Waters will be available in the 2015 season with the City of Whittlesea investing slightly over $10 million for the new multi sports and community centre, making Mernda one of the most progressive and innovative clubs in the northern region.

Mernda encourages all interested players and supporters to contact the club and enquire about the programs that are currently being developed for season 2014 and beyond.
