Northern Football League chief executive Jeremy Bourke has announced his resignation after accepting a new role within the football industry.
Bourke will take on the role of Regional General Manager under the newly created AFL South-East Commission.
In an email sent to clubs informing of the news, Bourke described his three seasons with the league as an honour.
“The role of CEO has afforded me the opportunity to deal and interact with the quality individuals that drive NFL clubs,” Bourke said.
“The search would now begin to find a replacement to take the league to new heights.”
Under his stewardship, the league implemented a new strategic plan, undertook some significant initiatives and was able to procure a suite of new partners.
The league has continued on a trend of yearly growth and now has one of the strongest competitive balances across all divisions in metropolitan football.
Bourke’s focus on building the NFL brand centred on maintaining behavioural standards, ensuring all clubs maintained a strong community focus and for the league to establish long-term partnerships with other reputable, well-known brands.
Bourke will end his tenure with the league on October 29 before commencing with the new Commission on November 11.
The league is expected to advertise the CEO position shortly.
