Eltham and St Mary’s have cleared out from the rest at the top of the Heidelberg Golf Club Division 1 ladder after dominant wins.

Eltham was unstoppable as the Panthers cruised to a 106-point win over Diamond Creek. A six-goal to none opening quarter from the home side was a sign of things to come as they ran away with a big win.

Michaela Molenberg widened her lead at the top of the goal kicking table with a bag of five and now has 21 goals from four games. Captain Mary Robinson booted three in a best afield performance supported by Jemma Laffey and Brianna Crowley.

Abbi Gardiner and Tiana McClain gave their all for the Creekers who managed to kick a couple of goals in the final term, but will need to dust themselves off for another tough assignment against St Mary’s next week.

St Mary’s win over Banyule wasn’t quite as big on the scoreboard and it took the Burra until the third quarter to really break away from the Bears to score a 57-point victory.

Four goals to two in the first half had the Burra up by 15 points at half time, before a burst of four goals in the third term opened up a 40-point advantage. The defence of St Mary’s was a highlight as much as their attacking play, keeping the Bears scoreless after half time.

Kiara Delia, Megan Girolami and Emmison Zealley all impressed for the winners, with Girolami kicking four goals. Casey Woodward and Annabel Goodison continue to be among the Bears’ best week in, week out.

Heidelberg and Montmorency played off in the closest result of the weekend, with Montmorency winning its third game of the season by 19 points at Warringal Park.

The Magpies set up the win with two goals to none in the second term to open up a 20-point lead at the main break, which the Tigers couldn’t reel in despite having more scoring shots in the second half.

Shelby Lamire kicked two goals for Montmorency and Emily Gallagher was a clear best on ground, earning a perfect ten coaches MVP votes for her performance. Rebekah Miller and Nikki Watts were also in the votes for the Tigers, who remain in sixth spot on the ladder with one win.
