The Northern Football Netball League has announced its inaugural senior women’s representative football squad for the 2018 WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships.

Forty-one players have been selected in the squad ahead of the NFNL’s clash with AFL South East at Preston City Oval on Saturday May 19.

The squad features players from 16 clubs, following nominations supplied by each of the league’s women’s teams.

Chyloe Kurdas has been appointed coach of the NFNL’s inaugural senior women’s representative football team.

Following her appointment as coach in March, Kurdas said she hoped to make the representative program a positive experience for all players involved.

“What I want to achieve for the women who play in the rep team is to help them develop habits that will improve their own game and how they approach and think about the game,” Kurdas said.

“Really instill in them some kind of commitment to be able to share what they have learned with their club teammates, so they can help the whole league improve.

“The rep team should really be a learning experience for all those women involved, but then the knowledge should trickle down back to club level and we see some of those learnings being played out in the NFNL regular season.”

The squad will train together four times, commencing on Wednesday May 2 at Epping Recreation Reserve.

If any players have any queries about training, please feel free to contact Chyloe Kurdas via email to chyloe.kurdas@gmail.com.
