A look back over last weekend’s action in the Under-16 to Under-18 junior competitions.
Mernda and Eltham started off the Under 18 Girls at Eltham Central Park. The Panthers maintained a steady lead to take away a 37-point win. Jade van Hoeckel and Georgia Vaughan led the Panthers, Vaughan kicking two goals for the side. Sienna McCarthy and Taylah Buck gave their all for the Demons with Haylie Brooks being their goalkicker.
Research faced Diamond Creek Womens at Research Park. The Searchers came away with a 60-point win, keeping their undefeated season intact. Ally Pilakis and Matilda Raphael were standouts from the Searchers, Pilakis kicking an impressive seven goals for the game. Abbi Gardiner and Talia Spalato put in their best efforts from the Creekers with Jayda Cooney kicking two goals for the side.

The Under 17.5 Boys kicked off at Greenhill Reserve as Wallan clashed with Whittlesea. In an incredibly close match, the Magpies were in front all day, but after the Eagles kicked four goals in the last quarter it was the Eagles who took home a seven-point win. Brodie Brander and Jack Wunderlich led the Eagles with Oliver Morgan kicking three goals, while Alastair Clarke and James Kelly were standouts from the Magpies with Campbell Harrison kicking four goals.
Laurimar met Montmorency at Laurimar Reserve. The Magpies managed to keep in front for the entire game with the Power pushing back in the second quarter to create only a one point difference. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough from the Power as the Magpies kicked another five goals to secure their win. Patrick Johnston and Dylan Keating led the Magpies, with Johnston kicking three goals. From the Power, Owen Goring and Noah Key gave it their all.
First and second in Yarrambat and Diamond Creek faced off in a highly anticipated match and it sure was a nailbiter. The Bats maintained their lead throughout the game until the Creekers came back in the fourth quarter to take away a six point win. Usual suspect Archer Harvey kicked three goals for the Bats while Matteo Demarte and Lennox Thomson were standouts from the Creekers. Both teams remain in the top two, remaining even on wins and losses.
South Morang and Eltham met at Mill Park Lakes Recreation Reserve. In yet another thrilling match for the Under 17.5 Boys, there was only a 10-point margin between the two throughout majoring of the game. After kicking four goals in the last term the Lions had a home win of 32-points. Liam Ingwersen and Kaden Isherwood led the Lions, Isherwood kicking an impressive seven goals for the game, while Brian D’Intinosante and Kale Bollenhagen gave their best for the Panthers.

The Under 16 Girls (1) kicked off at Eltham Central Park as the Panthers faced off the Demons. Throughout the game the Panthers maintained a substantial lead which allowed them to take away a 79-point win. Ashley Denny and Matilda Johnson were standouts from the Panthers with Ruby Hartney kicking an impressive six goals. Holly Muscat gave her best, kicking the Demons only goal.
Kilmore made their way to Research Park; the Blues kept in front for the entire contest while creating multiple scoring shots which produced 10 goals. Ayva Humphreys and Grace Hegarty gave their best from the Searchers as they kicked a goal each. Amarni Bentley and Madison Smith led the Blues, Smith kicking three goals.
Yarrambat and Diamond Creek Womens met at AE Cracknell Reserve. Producing a 40-point win, the Bats continue their undefeated season while the Creekers manage to keep their spot in the top three. Addison Fitzpatrick and Bronte Cail led the Bats while Isabel Bott and Lily Irvin kicked a goal each for the Creekers.
Whittlesea and South Morang got the Under 16 Girls (2) underway at AF Walker Recreation Reserve. In a tight game it was the Eagles who took away a 12-point win as they remained on top of the ladder. Cammryn Warke and Lexie Rutter gave their best for the Lions while Kiah McKinnon-Rowe and Skyla Robinson led the Eagles.
Montmorency made their way to Laurimar Reserve to face Laurimar. The Magpies had a strong game, coming away with a 48-point win. Natalie Toohey and Madison Morgan led the Magpies, Morgan and Zoey Cummings kicked two goals each for the side, while Annelize Jankowitz and Blakely Rodwell gave their best efforts for the Power.
Darebin Womens clashed with Wallan at AH Capp Reserve. It was a tight first quarter with both sides kicking a goal each before the Falcons kicked a staggering eight goals in the second quarter that created a substantial lead, resulting in a 66-point win to the Falcons. Millie Maher and Maggie Everard were standouts from the Falcons, with Zara Quinn kicking five goals for the side. Summer McPharlane and Jasmine Bryant gave their best efforts for the Magpies, both kicking a goal each.
Yarrambat and Diamond Creek got the Under 16 Boys (1) underway with a Saturday night game at Yarrambat. The Bats started off strong, kicking five goals in the opening term, then continued to stay in front for the remainder of the game, coming away with a nine-point win. The Creekers didn’t go down without a fight, matching the Bats in goals as it came down to behinds in the end. Toby Jeffs and Darcy Corr led the Bats, Jeffs kicking four goals, while Max Tabain and Xavier Eastham were standouts from the Creekers, Tabain kicking three goals.
Eltham made their way to the Whittlesea Showgrounds to face the Eagles. The Panthers came in strong, kicking 13 goals for the game while keeping the Eagles to one, leading to a 79-point win for the away side. Jeremy Potter and Dylan Genis were standouts from the Panthers with Aidan Kenny kicking three goals. Mason O’Keefe and Reece Oakley gave it their all from the Eagles, with Archie Mathews being their only goalkicker.
South Morang and Kilmore clashed at Mill Park Lakes Recreation Reserve. The Blues produced multiple goalkickers with Lewis King and Lucas Chesswas kicking two goals while David Shaw and Campbell White were standouts. Ilias Vasiliadis and Alex Parisi gave their best efforts for the Lions. In the end it was the Blues who took away a 21-point victory.
Laurimar remained on top of the ladder after a 74-point win over Greensborough. The Power kicked an impressive 14 goals, with Cruze Cooke kicking five of them. Hayden Jones and Madix Marsh showed off their skills from the Power while Owen Eldridge and Nathan Halley fought hard for the Borough, Halley kicked two goals.
The Under 16 Boys (2) started off at Kinglake Memorial Oval as the Lakers faced Wallan. The Magpies didn’t hold back, kicking an outstanding 18 goals to take away a 114-point win. Lachlan Henwood gave it his best for the Lakers, being their goalkicker while Oliver Norman kicked six goals for the Magpies.
Hurstbridge and Kilmore met at Ben Frilay Memorial Oval. The Bridges were able to keep the Blues scoreless in the first half while kicking 21 goals overall for the game, leading them to securing a 120-point win. Zach Thomas and Finbarr O’Kane were standouts from the Bridges, Thomas kicking a staggering 10 goals. Tyla Hall and Byron Neilson gave their all for the Blues.
Mernda remain undefeated as they faced off Research at Waterview Reserve. In a tight first quarter, the Demons only led by one point, but from there the Demons kicked another 11 goals to have a 46-point victory. Jenson Campbell and Archie Cleary gave their best for the Searchers while Lachlan Barker and Jett Philips were standouts from the Demons.
Laurimar and West Preston-Lakeside clashed at Laurimar Reserve. The Power kept in front the entirety of the game as the Roosters followed closely behind. Lachlan Hirt and Dean DeMaria put in their best efforts for the Roosters while Christian Perri kicked four goals. Riley Driscoll, Harvey Roper-Gleeson and multiple goalkickers led the Power to their 15-point victory.
