A look back over last weekend’s action in the Under-16 to Under-18 junior competitions.

Beginning round six for the Under 18 Girls were Mernda and Diamond Creek Womens at Waterview Reserve. The Creekers fought to keep their spot in the top three, while Mernda were searching for their first win of the season. The Creekers managed to stay all over the Demons, staying in front all day leading to a 67-point win. Scarlett Rogers and Macy Aylward both fought hard for the Demons.

The top two of the ladder faced off at Research Park. Research looked to continue their undefeated season and they managed to keep it that way against Yarrambat. The Searchers kept on top of the ball leading to a 17-point win, with multiple goal kickers from both sides. Sierra Rogers and Matilda Raphael were standouts from the Searchers while Isabella Hawkins and Alannah Tedford put in their best efforts from the Bats.

Wallan and Laurimar kickstarted the Under 17.5 Boys with a tight match. Scoring was neck and neck throughout the whole game, however Wallan kicked another 4 goals in the fourth term to seal the 29-point win. Domenico Luci kicked four goals for the Magpies while Nishan Chandra and Joshua Knight were named in their best. Aston Carrick kicked two goals alongside Jaxon Kueffer who was also named in the Powers best.

South Morang cemented their top three spot with a 42-point win over Montmorency at Montmorency Park. It was neck and neck in the first term with only a point difference but from there the Lions dominated their way through the match, Declan Luke kicking four goals while being in the best alongside Reece Hayden while Dylan Keating and Joshua Galloway showed up for the Magpies.

A nailbiter took place between Eltham Black and Whittlesea at Eltham Central Park. The Panthers took away a six-point victory. The Eagles had only a three-point advantage by the end of the first term but the Panthers were able to keep a small but steady lead from there. Kale Bollenhagen kicked three goals and made it in the Panthers best with Brian D’Intinosante, while Xavier Morrison and Brodie Brander led the Eagles.

Top of the ladder Yarrambat sustained their undefeated streak for the season against Mernda at Waterview Reserve. The Bats took home a 90-point win with Archer Harvey kicking a staggering six goals for the game, with Harvey now kicking 26 goals in just five games in this season. Bailey Hockey and Justin Spadorcia put in their best efforts from the Demons.

A competitive clash between Diamond Creek Women’s and Mernda got the Under 16 Girls (1) underway. The Creekers had a strong start, keeping the Demons scoreless in the first term and only continued to put more goals on the board to secure a 15-point win. Jessica Hazelwood-Smith put two goals on the board for the Creekers while Tasmin Newton also managed to score two goals for the Demons.

Yarrambat faced off with Research at Yarrambat War Memorial Park. The Bats secured an 108-point to continue their undefeated season so far. Charli-Jordan Ford put four goals on the board while Winnie Fitzgerald and Lucy Wilson were able to score three goals each for the Bats. Amy Coleman and Ayva Humphreys put their best efforts in for the Searchers.

Second and third faced off at Susan Street Reserve. Eltham Black were able to stay in front all day with Ruby Hartney kicking three goals while Ashley Denny and Sadie Hewett were named in their best. Hannah Gibson and Isabella Wong showed up for Kilmore, but it was the Panthers who would take home the 17-point victory.

Starting off the Under 16 Girls (2) were Wallan and Montmorency. The Magpies secured a close 10-point win but not without a fight, the Falcons gave it their all coming into the second half after being down 22 points and shortening that margin. From the Magpies Chloe Hicks kicked four goals for the game and came in the best alongside Madison Morgan while Millie Maher and Vieda Simons-Moemai were standouts from the Falcons.

Wallan took on South Morang at Mill Park Lakes Reserve. The Lions dominated, keeping Wallan to one goal while scoring 16. Leading goal kicker in the competition, Aila McMackin, kicked four goals while being in the best alongside Lexie Rutter who kicked three with multiple players kicking three goals each for the Lions. Mia Dumaloski and Danika Ward gave it their best from the Magpies.

Whittlesea looked to continue their winning streak against Laurimar at Laurimar Reserve. The Eagles kicked goal after goal, with 12 goals for the day while keeping the Power to one goal leading to a 75-point win. Lily-May Lee kicked three goals while being named in the side’s best alongside Jamie Robinson. Georgi White and Emily Gomez led the Eagles.

Coming into Under 16 Boys (1) Eltham Black and Kilmore faced off to fight for the third spot on the ladder, but it was the Panthers who took home a 72-point win. Tight competition in the first term with only a 10-point margin between the two, but the Panthers managed to expand their lead, kicking 16 goals all up. Both teams had multiple goal kickers, but it was Andrew Minutolo and Joshua Hibbert who led the Panthers while Frazer McMahon and Eammon McLaughlin – Matthews who led the Blues.

Laurimar Black defeated Whittlesea as the Power continued their unbeaten season at the Whittlesea Showgrounds. Both teams had numerous goal kickers for the day with Bailey Barber and Jaxson Meyer who showed their best efforts for the Eagles while Marcus Ragona and Madix Marsh led the Power to a 61-point victory.

Yarrambat faced off against South Morang at Yarrambat War Memorial Park. The Lions managed to finish the first term with a four-point lead, but the Bats took it from there after securing six goals in the second term leading to a 43-point win. Ethan Thornton Williams kicked four goals for the Bats while Digby Squirrell and Jayden Fenech were named in the best. From the Lions Chance Zeva kicked three goals while Tristan-Lee Turner kicked two.

Diamond Creek were up against Greensborough at Coventry Oval. The Boro were looking for their first win in division one but the Creekers proved to be a tough match, defeating the Boro by 93-points. Zach Elia and Riley Lavender gave it their all from the Boro while Jyi Wallington and Xavier Eastham led the Creekers with Wallington kicking four goals.

Montmorency and Kilmore White kickstarted the Under 16 Boys (2), and it was the Magpies who took home a 105-point win to make their way into the top 4. Zac Webster and James Black kicked 5 goals each while also being in the Magpies best, while Byron Neilson kicked three goals and was in the Blues best alongside Beau Kemp.

Hurstbridge faced off with Wallan at Ben Frilay Oval. The Bridges had a strong start kicking five goals in the first term and only kept their momentum going to secure a 63-point win over the Magpies. Eden Harris and Mitchell Hayes led the Bridges with Harris kicking six goals. Chase Fowler and Victor Bosco put in their best efforts for the Magpies.

Laurimar Teal met West Preston-Lakeside at JE Moore Park. A highly competitive game with the Roosters being ahead with roughly a 10-point margin nearly the whole match, but the Power came back kicking five goals in the last term to take away an 18-point win. Riley Driscoll and Dean Siderakis led the Power with Siderakis kicking five goals while Lachlan Hirt and Dean DeMaria gave it their best from the Roosters.

Third on the ladder Research were able to use this week as a rest week after a forfeit from Kinglake.
