A look back over the weekend’s under-16 to under-18 junior action.
In the Under-18 Girls, Montmorency continued its undefeated streak with a comfortable win over Laurimar at home. This was with the help of Georgia Thomson kicking two goals and performing excellently alongside Tess Dillon.
Diamond Creek Women’s showed why it is making a strong contention for the flag with a strong win over Wallan/Kilmore. One of the star performers for the winners was Lauren Durante, kicking three majors.
Yarrambat produced a close win over Research at Panton Hill. This win puts Yarrambat a game out of a finals spot. This win came with Kyla Parry and Jordyn Eichstadt both kicking two goals and Natasha Harrop playing a well-rounded performance.
Eltham defeated Whittlesea by 22 points, despite a late fourth quarter push from Eltham. This was with Alannah Murray kicking three goals and Bethany Woodman performing exceptionally well.
In the Under-17 Boys, Montmorency defeated Whittlesea comfortably to retain top spot on the ladder. This came with the help of Connor Butcher kicking four goals and Anthony Mcevoy kicking three goals.
Mill Park produced a comfortable win over Mernda at Mernda, this was with a big break away in the fourth quarter, with the help Luca Gioskis and Noah Anthony Bazzano kicking three majors each.
Diamond Creek had a comfortable win over Kilmore/Wallan, with 18 goals spread over six players. Cam Wild led all goal scorers with eight majors, while Dylan Addis and Brent Camilleri both kicked three majors.
South Morang defeated the Rangers by 31 points, despite the Rangers being up by 15 points at half time. The Lions turned up the heat in the second half kicking eight goals to one goal. William Cookson starred for the victors.
Greensborough took a comfortable win over West Preston Lakeside at home. Boro’s Bayley Blakeley played a well-rounded game, kicking five majors while Corey Potter helped with three majors.
In the Under-16 Blue Laurimar had another comfortable win over West Preston Lakeside at Laurimar Reserve to maintain their top of the ladder position. Laurimar’s Ned Welsh kicked four majors while playing exceptionally well, followed by Sam House kicking three majors.
Diamond Creek maintained fourth placed after defeating Research by 22 points, after kicking three unanswered goals in the final term to get over the line. Ben Major and Jonah Potter both kicked two goals, while Cooper Barbera shined in an exceptional performance.
Eltham took a comfortable win over Mill Park at Eltham Central Park. The Panthers held a 17-point lead at Eltham Central park at half time. Eltham blew away in the third quarter thanks, before holding out a spirited Mill Park in the last term, thanks to the help of Thomas Allin kicking eight majors.
In the Under-16 Red, Mernda took out a runaway win over Montmorency at home. Montmorency were up by 20 points at half time but Mernda flicked the switch in the second half, kicking 11 majors to one. Thomas McMahon kicked four majors and playing a well-rounded game.
Yarrambat defeated South Morang comfortably at Yarrambat War Memorial Park. Yarrambat kicked 18 majors spread across 10 players. Nicholas Green, Mitchell Wold and Bailey Sobol kicked three majors each to cement second position for their side.
In the Under-16 Girls Blue, Diamond Creek Women’s Blue had a gripping six-point win over Research in the top of the table clash., following a late push by Research in the fourth quarter. Taylah Braddock impressed with three goals for the winners, while Tarrah Delgado was best for Research.
Kilmore defeated Yarrambat by 13 points at J.J Clancy Reserve. This win was thanks to a strong performance from Emily Williams kicking two goals and Eliza Woodley playing a well-rounded game.
Montmorency defeated South Morang by 32 points away at Mill Park Lakes Reserve. Montmorency kicked away in the third quarter, kicking all four goals to help set up the victory and move into third place on the ladder.
In the Under-16 Girls Red, Northcote defeated Darebin away comfortably. This was with the help of Tameeka Braybon kicking three majors and Iesha Bamblett kicking two majors.
Panton Hill moved to second spot after defeating Diamond Creek Women’s Red in a 13-point game. This was with the help of Tiana Cooper kicking Panton Hill’s two majors and Tara Reichert playing a strong game.
Boro Bolts defeated Wallan at Beale Resrerve. Emmison Zealley kicked two majors and Ari Gosden the other. Olivia Grindal was best for the Magpies. The Bolts are now sitting on top of the ladder.
Eltham put out a strong performance to defeat Hurstbridge at Ben Frilay Oval. The Panthers were led by Tanaya Boyne and Angelique Reibelt kicking two majors, while Sofia Gravier excelled.
