A look back over the Round 7 action in the under-16 to under-18 junior competitions.
In the Own Journey Travel Under-18 Girls, Montmorency made it six wins on the trot with a 33-pooint win over Darebin Falcons. This came with Jemma Laffey kicking three majors, alongside Kieshaya Knight playing exceptionally well.
Laurimar produced a comfortable win over Whittlesea to push into fifth spot. The Power’s 16 goals were spread through 10 players, with both Alexandra Pronesti and Talia Vincent kicking three majors each, alongside a solid performance by Britney Gutknecht.
Eltham travelled to Wallan and came home with the four points against Wallan/Kilmore. Eltham produced a strong first quarter, with six unanswered goals. Georgia Cox kicked a game-high three majors, while Alannah Murray played a well-rounded performance.
Diamond Creek Women’s sits in second place after defeating Research at Montmorency Park South Oval. This was with the help Lauren Durante, who booted three goals. Molly McCormack was best for the Searchers.
In the Under-17 Boys, South Morang defeated Whittlesea at Whittlesea Showgrounds after a strong seven-goal first quarter performance. The Lions continued their attack with William Cookson kicking three majors, a day after kicking two in his senior debut, while Mitch Kalpakis playing a solid game.
Greensborough took a comfortable win over Kilmore/Wallan in a high-scoring game to move into top spot. Greensborough kicked 23 majors, spread through 13 players. Bayley Blakeley kicked four goals, while Daniel Ferronato played a strong game.
Diamond Creek ended Montmorency winning streak in a 19-point result at Coventry Oval. Montmorency led by seven points three quarter time, before the Creekers kicked the last four goals. Ethan Taylor and Ethan Farquhar kicked two majors each and Ewan McKenzie playing an exceptional game for Diamond Creek. Daniel Mezzalira was best for the Magpies.
Rangers defeated Mernda by 40 points at Eltham Central Park. This was with the help of Jesse Colenso kicking three majors and Ben Smith playing a great game.
Mill Park had a high-scoring win over West Preston-Lakeside at J.E Moore Park. Mill Park kicked 23 majors spread across 13 players, with Matt Volpe kicking a game-high six goals. Sean Shorten was good for the Roosters.
In the Under-16 Blue, Diamond Creek took a comfortable win over West Preston-Lakeside at Coventry Oval. Cooper Barbera was outstanding with four majors, as was Will Dower who also kicked four.
Laurimar beat Eltham by 26 points in the top-of-the-table game. The Power set-up the result with a six-goal second term. Ned Welsh and Samuel House both kicking three majors and William Jacavou playing well. Jackson Stafford was named best for the Panthers.
Research took a close seven-point win over Mill Park at Redleap Reserve, despite the Stallions making a late push in the fourth quarter. Lachlan Blizzard led the charge for Research with four goals. Mihim Fernando played well for Mill Park.
In the Under-16 Red, Montmorency took a comfortable win over Greensborough away. Max Hughes helped Montmorency get over the line after kicking five majors alongside Nikolas Cox kicking four majors.
Mernda defeated Yarrambat at Waterview Recreational Reserve to cement the first position on the ladder. This was with the help of Connor Miller kicking three majors and Max Brown playing a well-rounded game.
Kilmore had a very comfortable win over South Morang with their 19 goals spread amongst nine players. Geordie Humm kicked four majors with help from Lachlan Giles kicking three majors and playing a strong game.
In the Under-16 Girls Blue, West Preston-Lakeside upset Diamond Creek Blue at J.E Moore Park. Jaydah Hope kicked three goals and Ashleigh Snow played an exceptional game as their side raced out of the blocks, with six unanswered goals in the first half.
South Morang defeated Kilmore at Mill Park Lakes Reserve to move within touching distance of the top-four. Guilia Ceravolo, Alyssa Bannan, Taylah Bagnato and Maykaylah Appleby were among the Lions’ goal kickers.
Montmorency defeated Yarrambat by 20 points, thanks to a two-goal to zero last quarter. Elleanor Hoffman kicked two majors to help the Pies get over the line, alongside Hannah Laffey playing exceptionally well. Bridie Louder was named Yarrambat’s best.
In the Under-16 Girls Red, Northcote defeated Eltham in a close game at McDonnell Park. Chloe Williams proved pivotal in Northcote’s winning kicking three majors, while Mia Lawson played a great game. Remy Hunter was good for the Panthers.
Wallan had a comfortable win over Darebin at Wallan Recreation Reserve, although the Falcons fought the game out and won the last quarter. Aaliyah Matthey kicked three majors for the Magpies and Paige Thompson and performed well.
Panton Hill sits second after beating Hurstbridge at Ben Frilay Oval. This was with the help of Elee Newman kicked three majors and Lucy Mill was named the Redbacks’ best player.
Boro Bolts remain in first place after beating Diamond Creek Red at Plenty Park. This came with 11 goals spread across 10 players.
