JASON Kennedy has been named captain of the Northern Football League senior representative team.

Kennedy, 30, will lead the NFL into battle when it takes on the Victorian Amateur Football League (VAFA) at the AFL Victoria Metropolitan Championships on March 28.

The match will be played at Carlton’s Ikon Park, with the NFL hoping to claim the No.1 ranking in metropolitan Melbourne with victory.

Kennedy, who is also the captain of 2014 grand finalist Heidelberg, was named interleague captain at Wednesday night’s interleague training session at Barling Park.

He was a vice-captain to Ryan Jackson in last year’s interleague team, helping the NFL to a 37-point win over the Essendon District Football League (EDFL).

Kennedy has played 141 senior games with Heidelberg since joining the club in 2007.

Also named in the NFL’s four-man leadership group were Greensborough co-captain Matthew Hyde, Montmorency midfielder Jesse Donaldson and Bundoora’s Ricky Dyson.

Hyde successfully led Greensborough’s to the Division 1 premiership last season, while Donaldson is the reigning Division 1 Coaches Player of the Year.

Dyson brings a wealth of experience having played 112 AFL games with Essendon before spending the past two seasons with the Bulls.
