NFNL Statement: Recent Media Reports

Published on Tuesday, April 8, 2025

The NFNL wishes to release a statement surrounding recent media reports on the League and its staff.

Contrary to recent media reports, the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL) wishes to clarify and proudly acknowledge the following staff members who are progressing in their careers and moving into exciting new opportunities.

Nicholas Sacco, who has been a valued member of the NFNL team for over 10 years in both voluntary and professional capacities, will be moving on to a new role with SEN.

Jeff Downes, who has served as the NFNL’s General Manager of Football Operations for the past three years, is transitioning into a sports management position within local government.

The NFNL takes great pride in providing a platform for staff to grow and advance in their careers. In fact, in late 2024, two additional team members also made the step up into roles within the AFL and the Brisbane Lions Football Club.

We congratulate all departing staff on their achievements and thank them for their significant contributions to the NFNL. We wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.
