NFNL umpires Nick Scott, Greta Miller, Lachlan Higgs and Zac Brown-Close have all been named on the VFL development list of umpires for 2018.
Field umpire Scott (field), boundary umpires Miller and Higgs and goal umpire Brown-Close all nominated for trials at the end of last season and have successfully completed the first step to a VFL/AFL career.
NFNL Director of Umpiring Martin Ellis said all four thoroughly deserved selection on the VFL development list.
“All had fantastic umpiring seasons last year and earned their promotion to the VFL list,” Ellis said.
“They continually strive for excellence and have a fantastic will to succeed. They are prepared to work hard, have a great attitude and are career umpires.
“A lot of credit must also go to their discipline coaches who prepared them for the next step in their careers.”
In other umpiring news, field umpire Joel Clamp was promoted onto the VFL senior list after just one year on the development list.
Clamp began his umpiring career in the NFNL and officiated the 2016 Division 2 grand final between North Heidelberg and Hurstbridge.
The NFNL congratulates Joel, Nick, Greta, Lachlan and Zac on their achievements and wishes them the best of luck in their umpiring careers.
