`

Montmorency Football Netball Club has announced the re-signing of Nick Rutley for the next two seasons.

Rutley joined the Magpies last year, guiding the Magpies to their first Grand Final appearance since 2013 in his first season.

Before joining Montmorency, Rutley was an assistant coach at Williamstown, senior coach of Heathmont in the EFNL and was on Carlton and North Melbourne’s AFLW coaching panel, coaching the Blues for two matches in 2018.

A club statement said:

The MFNC Executive Committee are extremely proud & delighted to announce that Nick Rutley has officially extended his position as Senior Men’s Coach for a further 2 years out to the end of 2027. This announcement will continue a leadership journey that has already brought growth, resilience, and a renewed sense of belief to our club.

Since stepping into the role in 2024, Nick has been instrumental in:

  • Building a strong, values-driven culture.
  • Uplifting the professionalism of our program both on-field and off-field.
  • Developing emerging talent and strengthening our list.
  • Guiding the team to a promising 2024 finals appearance.

The decision to extend his contract reflects our unwavering confidence in the direction we’re heading — both on and off the field. This is more than just a coaching extension; it’s a continued commitment to our long-term vision, our players, and our loyal supporters.

Nick had this to say:

“It’s a privilege to lead this group and represent a club with such passionate support. We’ve laid strong foundations, and I believe the best is still to come.”

We couldn’t agree more. Here’s to the next chapter — united, ambitious, and all-in.
