Greensborough Netball Club has appointed Alan Watson its head coach for the 2014 Northern Netball League season.
Watson’s outstanding coaching record and involvement in sport began in the early-1990s and includes experience in basketball, cricket, football and netball.
Over the years he has coached a number of teams and in 2011 was appointed coach of the Victorian deaf teams competing at the Australian titles, where they finished first and second.
Watson comes to Greensborough very well qualified to take on the role of head coach, having completed training qualifications in advanced coaching, courses in umpiring and coaching theory and has a Certificate 4 qualification in training and assessment.
“I have a whole heap of knowledge and new ideas that I want to bring to the club through my level of coaching,” Watson said.
“Netball is a great team sport and players share the game with friends and make new ones, so I see this as a very exciting opportunity.
“The club has a sound structure in place with the number of teams participating.
“The challenge is to improve the players individually and as teams to identify and work on areas that players need to improve on.
“That will mean stronger, more competitive teams working with structures, team systems and set plays.”
