Northcote Park statement: Barry Mitchell

Published on Monday, August 10, 2020

Northcote Park Football Netball Club has issued a statement announcing the resignation of senior football coach Barry Mitchell.

The former VFL/AFL star was announced as coach last September, having previously won a premiership and league best and fairest with the Cougars in 1997.

Unfortunately the global COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 NFNL season, meaning Mitchell didn’t lead the club in a competitive match.

Read Northcote Park’s statement below:

The Northcote Park Football and Netball Club wishes to announce that our senior football coach Barry Mitchell has decided to step down, effective immediately.

The club would like to thank Barry for his input and hard work in the season that was not meant to be. We wish Barry all the best in his future endeavours.

The NPFNC will now be on the hunt for a new senior coach to lead us in these uncertain times and into a successful 2021.

We hope our players, coaches, board members, volunteers, members, sponsors and community partners continue to be safe and well during this pandemic.
