Young umpires promoted to State League Development Squad

NFNL field umpires Lisa Compton-Robins and Lachlan Flinn have been promoted to the 2022 VFL State League Development Squad.

Both field umpires impressed throughout the 2021 NFNL season, where they predominantly officiated Division 1 senior men’s football matches.

Lisa was last year crowned the Best Junior Football Umpire, while Lachlan claimed the AFL Victoria Golden Whistle award. In 2019, he was awarded the Most Improved Senior Umpire.

As members of the VFL State League Development Squad, they will umpire in the NAB League and VFLW competitions during the 2022 season, with the aim of umpiring in the VFL in the coming years.

NFNL Head of Umpiring Cameron Nash said Lisa and Lachlan were extremely deserving of their places in the development squad.

“Both Lachlan and Lisa had consistent seasons with the NFNL and thoroughly deserve their promotion,” Nash said.

“Their commitment and application towards their umpiring on and off the field is first class.

“They are also both members of the newly-created NFNL Umpiring Personal Development Program currently being undertaken over the pre-season.”

The NFNL congratulates Lisa and Lachlan on their selection in the VFL State League Development Squad and wishes them every success as they progress through the umpiring ranks.
