Whittlesea and Van Der Ross part ways

Whittlesea Football Netball Club have announced the departure of senior men’s coach Wayne Van Der Ross effective immediately.

After stints at Yarra Glen (Outer East Football Netball League) and Knox (Eastern Football Netball League), Van Der Ross joined the Eagles in October last year, replacing premiership coach Blair Harvey.

Whittlesea currently sit on the bottom of the Melbourne Greyhounds Division 1 ladder and are yet to register a victory with five games remaining in the 2023 home and away season.

“It is with regret that the Whittlesea Football Netball Club announce that senior coach Wayne Van Der Ross is stepping down from the position effective immediately.

Wayne informed the club of this decision on Monday night and informed the playing group Tueday prior to training.

Whittlesea would like to thank Wayne for his efforts in what has been a difficult and tough season and wish Wayne and his family all the best for the future.

The coaching team, led by Paul Higgins, with senior assistant Cam McCormick and James Robinson, will take over until the end of the season with the support of development coaches Jack Dyson and Andrew Draper.”
