The top three sides all recorded convincing wins in Round 8 of Heidelberg Golf Club Division 1.
St Mary’s unbeaten run remains intact thanks to a dominant 81-point win over Heidelberg.
The Burra were always in control and had the game in hand by half time when the score read 60-1 in their favour, keeping the Tigers goalless for the match to record their seventh win of the season.
Megan Girolami and Jii Williams kicked three goals each for the winners and Mikayla Plunkett and Kiara Delia were among the best players for St Mary’s. Rebekah Miller again earned the nod for Heidelberg as their best player as they battled through the afternoon along with Mikayla Lee and Chloe Edmends.
Eltham were similarly convincing as the Panthers produced a polished second half to account for Lower Plenty by 46 points at Eltham Central Park.
Michaela Molenberg and Jemma Laffey had days out in front of goal – Molenberg finishing with five and Laffey with three as Eltham maintained their one-game lead over Montmorency on the ladder.
Sienna Gunning and Mary Robinson were also impactful for Eltham across the day along with Abbey Vaughan and Isabel Villarreal.
Montmorency overcame a slow start to defeat Diamond Creek in a re-match of last year’s Division 1 grand final, running away with a 60-point win.
After the first quarter saw no goals kicked from either side, the Magpies got rolling in the second term with four to take a 26-point lead to half time.
They were never headed from there, keeping the Creekers goalless for the afternoon and kicking a further five goals to all but assure Montmorency’s place in the top five.
Georgia Thomson kicked three goals for the Magpies while six others all kicked singles. Bridie Watson and Kira Lemire were judged best afield for the winners, with nods also to Isobel Shaw and Molly Mcerlain.
Lauren Durante and Adele Coppola gave great effort for Diamond Creek which is still searching for that elusive first win of 2026.
All teams will head to a weekend off over King’s Birthday before gearing up for the second half of the season.
