Blues appoint co-coaches

Epping has appointed Aaron Newport and Glen Lehner as co-coaches of its senior men’s football team for the 2022 season.

Newport and Lehner take reins from Aaron Johnson, who coached the Blues between 2017 to 2021.

‘The Epping Football Netball Club put together a coaching selection panel and after working through 7 very high quality applications we are very pleased to announce that for season 2022 we are appointing a dual coach package deal, Aaron Newport and Glen Lehner.

These guys have worked as a team for more than 10 years at the Whittlesea Football Club and bring the ideals and values that Epping Football and Netball Club is working towards.

Glen played senior football for Ormond and Caulfield Grammarians in the Amateurs before moving over to play with Whittlesea Football Club in 2004.

After retiring from playing, Glen moved on to coaching, starting with under 9 and working his way through the grades before moving into open age coaching in various roles at Jacana, Oak Park and Mernda

Aaron has coached from Auskick through every grade up to Senior Assistant Coach.

He has also coached NFNL Junior Rep Squads and has been the Development Coach for the Calder Cannons.

Aaron has also spent 9 years working on the committee filling roles as Vice President, Football Manager and Coaching Coordinator

The Epping Football Netball Club congratulates them on being appointed. The club’s committee, members and supporters welcome Aaron and Glen and hopefully we will be able to get down to the club sometime soon to meet the guys in person.”
