Bundoora Football Netball Club has confirmed its football coaching panel for the 2021 season.

Michael Ryan will continue as senior men’s football coach, while Amy Callaway will again lead the club’s senior women’s football team.

Both Ryan and Callaway were appointed to their respective roles for the 2020 season, which was eventually cancelled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bulls have also reappointed Shane Jacobs as men’s reserves coach and Dave Callaway as under-19s coach.

High performance expert David Buttifant will again head the Bulls’ fitness program after taking on a position with the club following the 2019 season.

In a statement released by Bundoora, Ryan said he believed the club was well positioned ahead of the 2021 season.

“Although this year we were unable to take the field for premiership points I believe as a club we made a great step forward in creating a selfless culture where the players are fully invested in ensuring long-term sustainable success of our football club,” Ryan said.

“It’s generated off the back of a strong work ethic and ability to push one another to be the best we can be.

“Our list is in a strong position with plenty of exciting kids coming into the club this year looking to play first division football, complemented by a core group of experienced players who have been the back bone of Bundoora for a long period of time, led by our captain ‘Nipper’ Marshall.

“With the changing landscape of local football our priority is to retain our 2020 list inside the new scope provided to all leagues across metro Melbourne. Our focus will be on retaining our current list and once this is achieved then we will look to see what space we have to recruit.”

Callaway said she was excited by the opportunity to lead the club’s women’s team in its return to the playing field next year.

“I’m super excited to get another chance at coaching the girls in 2021,” she said.

“We had a great pre-season and we were looking really strong. We’re hoping to pick up where we left. I can’t wait to be back at the club to see all the old faces and hopefully some new ones.”
