Bundoora 2 claimed their first victory in the 2022-23 NFNL summer netball competition, defeating Kilmore 1 by 16 goals at RMIT University.

The Bulls looked the stronger of the sides from the first whistle, with a 12-4 second term quickly allowing them to establish an 11-goal half time lead. Despite a stronger second half from the Blues, the Bulls never looked back on their way to producing a 37-21 triumph.

Samantha Nunan scored 19 of her side’s 31 majors, taking her competition goal tally to 40, while Amy Ilic (11) and Nelli Wilson (7) also contributed to Bundoora’s scoring. Grace Baird led the way for Kilmore, scoring 14 goals.

In a contested first term, the Bulls were able to edge out a three-goal lead by quarter time. Wilson would be Bundoora’s main avenue to goal with five majors.

The Bulls picked up the pace in the second term, running rampant with an impressive 12 goal quarter all while keeping Kilmore to just four majors.

Wing attack Karlee Bruno and centre Demi Fitzsimmons proved to be a handy duo for the Bulls, with their connection in the attacking end setting up multiple opportunities for their side.

Kilmore opened the third term scoring the first two goals of the quarter, signaling their intent to reduce the 11-goal deficit from the main break.

The Blues would win the quarter thanks to the attacking work of Grace Baird and Tameeka Robertson however, Bundoora were able to keep up with their opponents to still take a strong 10 goal lead into the final change.

Kilmore would have no answers in the final term as the Bulls produced a 10 goal to four last quarter to claim their first victory of the 2022-23 summer netball season in style.
