Ivanhoe and Fitzroy Stars continue to lead the Melbourne Cleaning Division 2 ladder at the halfway point of the home and away season.
The Ivies were the biggest winners of the weekend, recording a huge 142-point win over Lower Plenty at Ivanhoe Park.
The home side were in control from the opening siren, kicking ten goals in the first half and continuing that run with eleven in the second half. Their defence was as impressive as their attacking play, keeping the Bears scoreless for the afternoon.
Georgia Pirdis had a day out with seven goals and Casey Clough was given ten Coaches MVP votes for her performance which included four goals. Claire Macgill, Claudia Dal Pos and Sophie Bone were also impressive.
For the Bears Charlotte Kerr and Alanah Moore gave their all but it’s a result Lower Plenty will want to move on from swiftly.
Reservoir also has a solid win, recording a 44-0 win over Darebin. It was a team effort from the Mustangs who had five individual goal kickers on the day as they improved their record to 5-2 after seven rounds.
Ava Gerada, Courtney Ugle and Imogen Milford were the best players for the home side and Grace Addamo kicked a couple of goals. Claire Hardi and Kate Moorhen were the best of the Falcons, but the loss drops them a game behind fourth spot on the ladder for now.
Kilmore, similarly, were also comfortable winners over Hurstbridge at JJ Clancy Reserve, running away with a 38-point win.
The Blues were a touch inaccurate in front of goal with 7.12 for the afternoon, but it mattered not as they were able to limit the Bridges to just two goals of their own to move a game clear in fourth spot.
North Heidelberg moved into eighth place on the table with a determined 15-point win over Panton Hill in the closest result of the round.
The Redbacks held a one-point lead at quarter and half time before North Heidelberg took over in the second half, booting five goals to two to overturn the lead and secure a valuable four points.
Sarah Bentley, Mikayala Bennett and Tarsh Owen given accolades from the Dogs’ coaching staff, while Ruby Moore continued her outstanding season for Panton Hill along with Talisha Rowland and Bridie Groves who kicked three goals for the home side.
West Preston Lakeside forfeited their game against Fitzroy Stars due to lack of player availability.
