Heidelberg West senior coach Michael Missen will remain at the club ahead of the 2023 season.

Missen experienced his first full season at the helm following his appointment in 2020, taking the Hawks to a fifth placed finish, only one game outside the top four.

In 2019, Missen coached Heidelberg West’s reserves’ side to the Division 3 premiership, the club’s first silverware in any football competition since 1966.

The club also announced the re-signing of senior assistant coach Terry Doukas.

A club statement said:

We are excited to confirm that Senior coach Michael Missen will be returning to once again lead the direction of the club’s football program for season 2023.

Since his appointment prior to the cancelled 2020 season, he has been a strong advocate for the clubs family values and history.

Michael has demonstrated strong leadership and a passion for the development of our playing group. Not just as players but also as people to enable them to achieve there best results on and off the playing field.

Michael will once again be supported by Terry Doukas as senior assistant coach in 2023. Terry has proven himself to be an outstanding operator and will once again hold the responsibility of the midfield/stoppage lines.

The performance of the senior side continues to take steps forward and despite narrowly missing finals, achieving a 10 win season is the clubs most successful result since the formation of division 3.

Continued stability of the leadership across all areas of the football netball club is a great result for the Heidelberg West Football Netball Club.

The executive committee, playing group and coaching staff are all equally excited by the platform the club has built for which to attack the 2023 season from.
