Gabby Newton has been nominated for the AFLW NAB Rising Star award, following her impressive performance for the Western Bulldogs in Round 4.

The 2019 No. 1 draft pick recorded 16 disposals, five marks and a game-high 10 tackles in the Bulldogs’ four-point defeat to the West Coast Eagles at Leederville Oval.

Newton has not missed a game since debuting in the Bulldogs’ season opener, averaging 13 touches per match.

Before arriving at the Kennel, Newton captained the Northern Knights to the 2019 NAB League Girls premiership, while claiming back-to-back Knights’ best and fairest honours.

She also featured in the NAB League Girls Team of the Year, while earning All-Australian selection for the second year running.

Prior to this, she spent her junior days at Yarrambat and Montmorency.

Each week, two AFLW players aged 21 and under will be nominated for the award, with the overall winner to be announced at the W Awards next month.

The 2020 NAB Rising Star will receive $20,000 from NAB, and a private banker to assist with securing their financial future.
