NFNL Statement – Peter McDougall

Published on Friday, July 1, 2022

Northern Football Netball League Chair Scott Walker has released a statement regarding CEO Peter McDougall.

I wish to advise that after 9 years, the League’s Chief Executive Officer Peter McDougall will be leaving the Northern Football Netball league (NFNL) at the end of the year.

Peter has been an exceptional leader who has transformed the League in to a modern and industry leading sporting organisation.

Peter has taken a very strategic approach to building a strong brand, starting with growing a highly professional and dedicated support team and bringing financial stability.

This solid platform has meant that Peter was able to expand the League, not only with new teams in the northern growth corridor, but also into netball and female football. A partnership with La Trobe University enabled a high profile and professional headquarters in the heart of the northern region which will reap benefits for the NFNL for many years to come.

The strengths that Peter has brought, meant that the League was able to navigate the difficult times when Covid hit and steer a path forward for us all including supporting the direction for other Leagues.

Peter has found the last 9 years at the helm extremely rewarding and challenging but most importantly, very enjoyable. Peter wanted to ensure that the League is well placed to find his replacement so that he can not only provide a hand over, but the new CEO will be a big part of the planning for an exciting 2023.

Peters’ leadership, dedication and consultative style is much appreciated by all those who have dealings with him. We are fortunate to have had Peter heading up the Northern Football and Netball League.

We wish Peter all the best for his future endeavors.

Scott Walker
NFNL Chair
