Two games across Heidelberg Golf Club Division 1 and Melbourne Cleaning Division 2 officially closed off Round 12 as teams start to cast their eyes towards finals.
Montmorency officially locked in its position for finals in Division 1 with a 48-point win over Heidelberg in a twilight fixture on Saturday.
It was a tight tussle early as the Magpies kicked the only goal of the opening term, before the game opened up a bit more allowing the home side to kick three more unanswered goals to head to half time 24 points in front.
Heidelberg got their first goal on the board eight minutes into the third term, but Montmorency were too good for the Tigers with six goals in the second half ensuring the Magpies banked their seventh win of the season and locks them into third spot on the table.
Kira Lemire was best afield with three goals for Montmorency, with Simone Morihovitis, Emily Gallagher and Molly Mcerlain named among the best and Georgia Thomson kicking a couple of goals.
Macy D’Orazio, Taylor Harwood and Amelie Gilchrist gave good service for Heidelberg, which after a bye this coming weekend will need to win their last game against Diamond Creek convincingly and hope results go against Lower Plenty if the Tigers are to jump into fifth spot.

Ivanhoe and Kilmore played out a terrific contest in Division 2’s only game of the weekend, with Ivanhoe winning by 11 points to move a game clear on top of the table.
Similarly, there was little separating both sides early, with scores level at quarter time. But the Ivies took control in the second term with three unanswered goals to open up a 19-point lead at the half.
The second half delivered some quality football with both sides finding avenues to goal – Kilmore won the second half with five goals to Ivanhoe’s three, but they couldn’t run down the deficit in time, falling just short of what would have been the Blues’ tenth win of the season. They are however still sitting third and a win over West Preston Lakeside this coming weekend would guarantee they hang onto that position for finals.
Casey Clough kicked three goals for Ivanhoe and captain Molly Uwland finished with two for the winners, while the Ivies’ best players included Talya Callahan, Emilia Bisogni and Sophie Smith.
Ella Stewart, Alexis Knight, Jenaya Stewart and Brianna Matthews-Gunn were eye catchers for Kilmore and Grace Gerada kicked two goals.
