Reservoir 1 have ended a three-game losing streak in the NFNL winter netball competition, defeating Greensborough 4 by 17 goals at Community Bank Stadium.

A nine goal to two first quarter set the tone for the 31-14 victory, with Reservoir collecting their first win since joining Section 10 in this year’s campaign.

The 31 goals were split between Angelica Papargiris (18) and Ashleigh Harris (13) who did well to take as many opportunities on goal as they could throughout the night while the defensive duo of Alessandra Galletti and Dana Sier were on song, with Reservoir conceding their lowest score since their final grading game in May.

Coco Brandini was the scoring leader for the Borough with six majors while Lily Timmons’ second half in goal shooter was Greensborough’s most impactful avenue of attack.

Papargiris stole the show in the first term, scoring seven of Reservoir’s nine goals while strong efforts in the defensive half meant the Borough could only muster two goals.

While the work of Greensborough’s Georgia Brittan and Meaghan Lewis limited their opposition’s scoring in the second term, Reservoir still maintained the advantage, leading by nine goals at the main break.

Reservoir continued to fire coming out of the half time interval, with Papargiris and Harris going to work in the attacking circle to produce another nine-goal term for their side, extending the margin to 14 goals in the process.

The Borough had an encouraging final quarter, with their five-goal effort their highest scoring term for the match. However, Reservoir continued to be just a step ahead of their opponents, with an eight-goal quarter.

Reservoir have an big opportunity to make it back to back wins when they take on West Preston-Lakeside 1 next week while the Borough face Montmorency 5.
