Montmorency juniors get behind Clean Up Australia Day

The under-16s took on the responsibility of cleaning up Poulter Ave Reserve.

The crew filled over 15 bags of rubbish and recyclables found on the playing field, the surrounding parklands and riverside and the area on and around the walking track.

The rubbish was then transported back to Para Rd from where the Banyule City Council will pick it up.

The under-17s team actively cleaned up the Para Rd parklands and surrounds as well as the walking track.

After making Para Rd all spic and span the Magpies headed over to Simms Rd Reserve to fill their rubbish and recycling stacks full of trash.

Montmorency juniors’ president Peter Gray commended his players for supporting a good cause.

“The Montmorency Junior Football Club are delighted to participate in this great national program and proud to have made a significant contribution to the beautiful parklands in which we reside,” he said.

“Montmorency are very fortunate to have such great community facilities to use and the club felt that it was only right to have the older junior players illustrate their respect for the playing facilities and surrounds.

“The Montmorency Junior Football Club believe that having the players involved in high quality community events such as Clean Up Australia Day is extremely beneficial to the individuals development.”
