Gresham stars for Boomerangs

Gresham was named best afield in the first of the Boomerangs two victories against South Africa Lions.

The Boomerangs dominated that first encounter in Johannesburg on January 28, racing to a 27-point lead at quarter time before extending the buffer at each change to finish with a 19.11 (125) to 2.2 (14) victory.

The Boomerangs were just as dominant in the second match in Durban on February 1. They again won every quarter as they claimed an 85-point victory, with the final score 17.15 (117) to 4.8 (32).

The Flying Boomerangs is a personal development and leadership program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young men aged 14-15 years-old, selected from the 2012 AFL Kickstart Under-15 Championships.

Gresham was one of four Victorians selected in the squad. He has excelled in the Northern Football League in recent years, winning the under-15 Blue best and fairest in 2012 and finishing runner-up for the under-14 Blue best and fairest in 2011.

Along with playing two matches against the Lions, the Boomerangs squad conducted a football clinic in Cape Town and visited the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg.
